Wow! I'm so far behind replying, sorry. Congratulations on finishing your cute little penguins! The applique panel looks wonderful.
Nice collection of yarn, seeing it makes me want to get out and look for more yarn, too, but I already have several boxes of yarn on my shelf and no immediate project in mind.
Margaret's 70 & a half birthday pressie table runner is very interesting. I'm wondering if the patterns you chose are significant to Margaret's life history? Have you given it to her yet?

Margaret sings shanties & ballads & other historical songs. She might receive it next week at the monthly shanty session, which would make it her 70 & 7/12ths birthday! www.margaretwalters.com/ - her website is a way out of date - she & the Roaring forties toured UK, & attended shanty festivals in Brittany & the Netherlands August & Sept, then went to New Zealand in October! The colonial scenes are from the Australian toile australiantoile.com.au/products-page/fabric/the-drovers-welcome-fabric/ - After lonely weeks in the outback of Australia, mustering his cattle, the drover returns home to the joy and relief of his waiting family. This is the furnishing fabric, I used the much cheaper quilting fabric. The ship fabric is an old scrap that came from a friend. The company which made it no longer sells it, tho they have another nautical-themed fabric with the same name! The ships on on the back of the runner were the only bit of handstitching in the project. I was going to machine applique but my sample was not neat. The backing fabric was too short & the left over sandy bit seemed wide enough to fit, but alas it was not - fortunately I had purchased extra blue. sandra Attachments:

Sandra, Thank you for explaining about the fabric designs. It's all very interesting.
I had fun with the swatch colour changing on the Australian Toile site, too. (I'm easily amused.)

for the last 2 weeks at Craft I've just finished my coathangers (knitted covers for padded hangers sold in a hospital shop where a friend volunteers) & haven't started a new big project - yet. Well, I did have 27 covers & my friend was very pleased to get half of them last week & the rest this week as they sell like hotcakes.
I'm also engaged in making a felt lining for an old wool felt knitting bag. I knew it was old & wool when I bought it in a charity shop - it had authentic moth holes! Over the year I've used it some of the holes have been increased by unprotected needled (oops) so I'm making an acrylic felt lining. I do have some rather soft wool felt but thought firm acrylic felt would be a better lining.
Only 2 more weeks of Craft groups before we close for the summer holidays (6 weeks for the Friday group as we follow the school holidays) but only 4 weeks for the Wed. group as it just takes a Christmas break.
This is when I go nuts waiting for mid January & craft! Everyone else has families & kids & most have grandkids & I'm the odd one out just counting the days before we resume.
Folk clubs & singing sessions close down too, & some friends head off to a New Year festival or for family visits, but I do have a festival Mid-January!

Sandra, You've been very productive! How is the knitting bag lining coming along?
Mid-January must seem a long way away? I hope that you'll be able to find ways to amuse yourself during the time away from craft groups. Do you have single friends who are not in the craft groups with whom you could get together?
I envy you coming into summer when we are freezing our tushies off and shoveling snow.
