I'm just curious as to why the penguins don't have yellow or orange beaks. All the ones I've ever seen do.

but getting back to the Penguin Pressie. I did a lot of buttonholing & a bit of knitting over the weekend. The entry table became a craft circle - MargaretW knitted a beautiful dress for her 1 year old granddaughter as she could not dance due to a foot injury. Wendy was also dressmaking & knitting & often joins me as she has an on-going foot injury, MargaretB was not injured & helped repair the dance dress between dances. MargaretB's daughters & their friends also congregated around the table. Re my buttonholing - I certainly did a lot as I discovered I was using both pinky colours around the lid due to not using my craft light! Lots of undoing followed after I turned on the light & saw what I'd done! some pics from Bundanoon DanceFest my.opera.com/BushMusicClub/albums/Attachments:

Sandra, You've made such great progress! What a shame that you had to do the buttonholing on the lid twice.

it didn't take too long - especially using the Daylight so I could see properly. I went to the Craft/Quilt show last week & bought 2 more Daylights - one of mine is too touchy to use, if I move it a tad or knock it, it flickers. The one I took away with me is ok, but ... Besides it turned out the lights were reduced & around half what I paid for the earlier ones! JennieG posted info on the quilt show at her blog bronzewombat.blogspot.com.au/, including a link to the winners. sandra

www.abc.net.au/news/2013-07-02/baby-boom-for-penguins-on-phillip-island/4793324The little penguins of Phillip Island are experiencing a baby boom. Last summer's breeding season was the best in a generation, a dramatic turnaround from the 1990s when either foxes were snatching the flightless birds or they were starving to death. (read on & admire the pics, including the one I've attached) Attachments:

When they didn't look like the penguins I've seen in zoos in my part of the world, I assumed that they were someones cutesy stylized version, but now that I've seen what your penguins look like, yours are a stunning likeness.

gidday, again! long time no post. the totally machine-made-plan collapsed into the lots-of-hand-sewing-plan after I had to undo strips to re-distribute the colours. I didn't touch the machine again until it was quilted as I kept taking it with me to craft. Then I had a problem - my table was covered with a jigsaw! So I took the machine into the kitchen & put it on my bench (aka. chest freezer) & sewed there, standing up! I have no excuse now for not taking out my machine. I finished it at class on Friday, sewing on a magnetic clasp & the handle. As you can see Anne loved it. Attachments:
