Beautiful! You're inspiring me, Sandra. I'm working in the cool basement this hot (86 F right now, at 11:49 in the morning in late September!!!) morning, sorting yarn, embroidery, weaving, etc. materials into something resembling order.

order = useful some of my stuff is ordered, other stuff is just thrown around. 2 cushion bolsters had to be moved before I could move the curtain to take the pic of my plants on the 2017 thread. If my machine wasn't dead, I could sew the overs for said bolsters. As I have a lot of cushions to make I prefer not to handsew the covers (good excuse, eh?) Of course, on or two at a time ... Last time my machine needed service I had a suitcase trolley which easily took the box, now all I have is this Rolser stairclimber trolley, perfect for getting groceries up & down my 38 stairs, & for filling with unwanted stuff for charity shops, but even with the bag removed, the machine box is too big. The repair shop is a train & bus journey away, & carrying the box on it's side or even tipped up doesn't seem like a good idea. I'm looking for a smaller strong box. I have lots of storage boxes made of thin cardboard & several large plastic storage boxes, sigh..

Might you be able to find another suitcase trolley at a thrift store? (Maybe you call those charity shops?) That's where I found mine. I'd offer to lend mine to you, but the distance between us makes that impractical. I haven't had much luck getting my machine I bought in 1971 repaired. I gave up and bought a very inexpensive Singer machine. It can't do much, but neither can I. I think it will do for the few years I'm likely to need it.

rags, my machine is a 1996 Janome & I have glanced at the machines in our local craft shop, but as I only use it a few times a year, I dunno if it's worth getting another.
maeve - thanks for the links. I'd forgotten that someone left a trolley in our basement store & as I'm heading out soon to another charity/thrift! shop, I'll see if it's still there.

fooey - it's gone & I had already (mentally) loaded it & was on my way to the repairer ... so I checked all my stronger boxes, the archives box holding my quilt fits on my shopping trolley wheels on it's short side & even roped will be unbalanced, but one of my craft storage boxes is (almost) perfect - the machine pokes out a bit but with 3 ties around the box - YAH! we're off to the shop sandra Attachments:

That's a clever solution! Best of luck in getting your machine repaired and both of you safely home.
