one day I'll make that waistcoat! this appears to be the only pic I have of all the stuff I've been doing since I last posted My craft group had an exhibition yesterday as part of Heritage Month - I'm sewing an old crocheted border to an old tablecloth embroidered by a frinnd's mother. The lace belonged to one of my graeat-grandmothers who religiously took lace off old items. The lace is too small for the tablecloth so I've pinned it in place & will cut the ocloth down after Ive finished - or maybe I won't decisions, decisions .... I also made the 2 little yellow pieces - an elegant & refined pot holder with an onion on it!, & a match box holder + the green tray cloth & napkin I made in primary school! I also made the small appliqued bag, the teddy in oversized hat + the felt bear. sandra

Sorry, Sandra, I missed this post before, It didn't show up on the "new" (participated) alert. What a great idea, showcasing heritage items during Heritage Month. Your great grandmother would be thrilled that the lace she saved so long ago has found it's next purpose.
You were skilled at sewing even as a young child and have certainly taken good care of those treasures.

thankyou. The placemat & napkin are the only examples of primary school needlework I have. I also have a cross stitch mat I made in high school. Back in the 80s when I was hunting the ancestors I met several of my father's cousins & one gave me a bag of lace & bits & pieces belonging to their grandmother, none of it expensive, she was just a thrifty woman who didn't waste anything! It contained lace collars, fabric collars, lace cut from clothing, unused pieces of mainly machine made laces, tho there were several hand made items, including a filet lace collar & several lengths of filet lace, & a beautiful Armenian lace collar.

I also liked this one. A friend was making hexagons & didn't want to make a quilt full, so was planning to scatter a few flowers across a backing, so I'll suggest she could do this sandra Attachments:

How lovely it all is, and what a good idea for the hex quilt! I tried the links in the previous post but got nowhere- still, it's good to see what you've been up to, Sandra!

bloody technology!
I've been thrown off-line twice in the past 6? or so hours & when I shut down then opened again, both times I had no mouse or keyboard. Twice in a few hours!!! mutter, mutter, it's happened before & solution is to turn off electricity, wait then open again & it works - well it did the 2nd time, first time I had to turn off electricity twice!!!
bloody technology

maeve, The links all work for me. I wonder if you have something blocking them? Or maybe you've had the bad luck of checking at times when they are not working?
They are all quite long, I wonder if that is a problem for your browser? If you have more than one browser on your computer, could you try opening this page from another one?
I have one other idea that I will try in my next post, okay? thanks

Hi maeve, I'm adding links that are visible. If you cannot use the links, please try copying and pasting them into the address bar on your browser? Thanks

Thanks, but used directly and as copy/pastes, they all lead back to this page. I've not had this trouble here before, nor does it make itself known anywhere else. I haven't time to load and try a different browser, but I thank you for your efforts. It isn't important, since I can get to the desired sites via searches.
