I had a wonderful birthday with a few celebrations, & a lovely party/singing session out in suburbia under what my friends call their Pavilion, former site of a double garage, now a lovely BBQ & picnic area open to the elements, with one wall! Tho it was a very wet day & the crowd shuffled their chairs further under the roof, the singing didn't stop. I had good company, good food, some lovely gifts, including several pre-paid Seniors Transport tickets for use when my Seniors Card comes thru in about a week), a song & a poem! 10 days later I had lunch with 2 wonderful friends high above Sydney here www.topsightseeing.com/australia/sydney/topsights/sydneytower.htm - good company, yummy food, fabulous views (& several hundred photos!) My last few birthday lunches have been advertised as 3 years to me Bus Pass, 2 Years to me Bus Pass ... ==================== At last! At last! For Sandra turning Sixty by Margaret - written before the party & words supplied so everyone could sing it (to this tune We’re drowning in the harmonies that float around the room There’s something stirring in our hearts, bright colours fill the gloom You’ve gathered us together and we’ve sung to chords you’ve wove And oh you look so lovely, dressed in red and mauve The Loaded Dog’s a folk club that you’ve run for manys the year And we’ve shared our songs together, mingled laughter, joy and tears The BMC, the Craft group and countless other chores You have made them all an art form, and you always open doors. As I stand here in this garden on this loveliest day of days To celebrate your birthday and sing you songs of praise Around the world your constancy and caring are renowned May your Senior’s Card bring pleasure, may you reap rewards profound ================= Some doggerel bout SANDRA by Ray (ukulele player & official Video-er of the Dog & all-round good bloke) - written at the party & declaimed beautifully Sandras done a loverly job All those years loadin the Dog All those Satdys Runnin up stairs Cuttin up sangas (sandwiches) Pushin round chairs Ringin round the talent, Fillin all the slots Bashin on the keyboard Joinin all the dots….. Now she’s 60, will she stop? Probbly, Surely, Doggorn, Not !

Sandra, Congratulations on attaining the ripe old age of 60 and all the privileges that go with it. It sounds as if you celebrated it well with your many friends. What lovely tributes they composed in your honour!
Now about that cute little black sheep alone on the back, don't you think it should have a friend back there to keep it company?

sheeps are coming along nicely - not quite finished, but I have an urgent project to get done. Since I last posted, I spent a fair amount of time restoring a banner made in 1968 & not cared for over the years - the organisation that owns the banner is almost 60 (Australia's oldest folk club!!) & it is part of our ongoing 60th anniversary celebrations. It was made with available materials, wool felt, cotton bias binding & cotton sheeting or dress material, & an old rayon gym cord. It was also not quite finished as the maker's baby arrived a bit early & she finished it quickly in the Maternity ward. One letter is only tacked, & the waratah was supposed to be buttonholed. www.anbg.gov.au/emblems/nsw.emblem.htmlI pulled it apart & washed the green fabric in conservation detergent made by a local museum (gift of a furniture conservator friend) & put it back together after brushing all the felt, & is now backed with an old linen sheet which takes all the weight when it is hung. check out the pics here my.opera.com/BushMusicClub/albums/ - 1968 Banner The maker made another banner for us to take to the National Folk Festival at Easter where both banners were displayed (see folder NFF - BMC first 10 years album) & I am now backing that banner before it gets damaged. Today I bought some old blue cotton sheeting from a charity shop which I washed. The woman who sold it to me is a quilter & recommended a green for the binding, not the yellow a photographer friend recommended. As she said the yellow binding would draw attention to itself, while a green draws attention to the banner. The fabric used for the batik was a yellowy floral dress fabric & we matched the green from the old sheets, but it was a poly-cotton so tomorrow I head for the nearest big quilting shop & an equally big dress/quilting material shop to get fabric & a very thin batting. The I have to get it backed, machine bound & hand quilted by the 19th so it can be part of the decoration for our Heritage Ball - see album of pics from last year's ball. easy! sandra Attachments:

finished 4pm day of Ball & I was planning to arrive 5ish to help set up, but when I arrived 5.30ish there was still stuff I could do. I'll be taking a proper pic on Wed when I get to Craft group (the club has wonderful walls for photographing quilts!) Tonight I'll be adding a hanging tube to the 1968 banner as I had to use clips to hold it to the lectern which is not kind to old material, & I'll get a pic of it on Wed, too. now what do I do next (apart from another jigsaw!) sandra Attachments:

I'm very please with them - the green binding sets off the banner perfectly.

& here's the back, with a black sheep exiled on the lush green grass on the back - Australian sheep are not used to lush green grass. Usually our grass is the yellowy-green colour of the front. Attachments:

earlier pics were taken ith flash. This one was taken without the flash on the lit screen - the light threw details into relief, including the shadow sheep on the back! The gamboling sheeps & the flowers are buttons. Attachments:

Lovely flock,Sandra! I feel sorry for the poor lone black sheep on the other side. I guess I shouldn't? It has all that lush green grass all for itself.
Does the cover slip over the top of the I mac as a pillow slip would?
Thanks, rags
