I bought 2 fabrics - the pale one is very Australian (strangely enough it was made in Oz) & the darker one is made in UK, & will be the background. I'm pondering upon exiling one of the black sheep to the lush pastures of the back. Lamb is made of felt & is my most expensive felt toy. He is covered with 7mm pompoms (no, I didn't make them, I bought them here lincraft.cart.net.au/details/2111963.html) & needed 2 & a bit packets to cover back & front. At least the applique will be cheaper, I'll only need one packet! (typos corrected - now why didn't I see them when i posted??) Attachments:

Nice fabrics for the background, Sandra. It's fun to see the pierce develop. I like the little black sheep.

I just spotted another typo in my last post

Sandra, that would be appropriate - considering that in years gone by the black sheep of a family was often packed off to Oz, out of sight and out of mind! You could send your Ozzie black sheep back to the green pastures of The Old Dart.

I don't think I can exile the lamb, he's far too cute (besides his pom-poms would make the backing lumpy!) so it looks like the little black ram will end up on his own.

today I sat the fabrics on the background - it did look funny! to photograph it I had to put some pattern pieces & felt versions on the ground so it looks even funnier! Top row left - white tracksuit knit fabric 2nd - rabbit skin with fur curled to look like astrakhan 3rd - handmade felt over toy - will have felt feet & muzzle right - black felt - will have pom-poms & bow middle left - dark grey felt, or maybe patchwork fabric with felt details 2nd - mohair (used for making bears) with felt legs 3rd - reverse of patchwork fabric with dark gold spirals, felt legs & muzzle right - hand-made felt bottom left - patchwork fabric, felt details 2nd - another rabbit astrakhan with braid legs & felt 3rd - very shaggy mohair Attachments:

the famous Sheeps applique computer screen cover - almost there! all it needs is the bottom left sheep to be appliqued, & a few eyes & limbs attached, then I have a top. then all I need is to attach it to the padding & back ... when it's quilted I'll decorate the sheeps with pom-poms & sequins & such as needed. Today we went back to Craft Group (I've been feeling very deprived over the past 4 weeks with no crafty days) where I sewed on the last sheep, attached wadding & backing & pinned it. Normally I just tack (baste) my small pieces, but the group owns lotsa' pins & I thought I might as well use them like a real quilter. & tonight I've even started quilting around the centre sheep!
