Does this avatar change help, ragdall? Thank you, Maeve. Now I need to relearn you, I can do that. At least until I change Mine * evil genius laugh* I'm hoping that you don't know how to do that. (Hurrying to delete the directions for teacup choosing.)

very belated seasonable greetings from me to all - extremely late for Christmas (so far back I barely remember it!) & belated New Year greetings. Merry Everything to you, Sandra. Have you been able to keep your cool? Thanks for checking in. I thought of you when I read in the news that it's been nasty hot down there. I wish we could share some of our weather to cool you down. My thermometer reads -25C at the moment. The prediction is for -29C during the night. We're very lucky to have automatic central heating in our homes. I was out to a meeting this evening. On the way home I stopped at the Supermarket for gasoline and some essentials we will need in the next few days. I don't plan to leave the house again until it warms up to at least -10C.

today has been cooler, under 25. Currently it's 22.3 at half past midnight, but humidity is 86% & we had rain earlier in the evening.
Rain is expected again every day in the next week, & most max. temperatures will be in the mid 20s (YAH!)
On the viciously hot days last week I was mainly OK, but I'm dreading next weekend when I'll be at a folk festival - the one that got to 47 a few years ago making it the last time I ever camped. Now I stay with friends.
I'm sure it will be hotter ...

Thinking of Sandra in too-hot conditions, as I listen to Jean Redpath and watch the resident bluebirds fend off a huge visiting flock of American robins looking for food in this short thaw...ice storm tomorrow.

today is wonderfully cool, 22C. I have a small (6") fan in each room & sleep with it blowing gently (it can't do strong!) towards my face. I normally sleep with the sheet at waist level so the little zephyr touches my arms. Some nights the heat & humidity keeps me awake, but I was cool when I woke this morning, I even turned the fan off 7ish & pulled the sheet up before going back to sleep. It was 21 when I went to bed & the same when I woke, but the minimum was 15 - no wonder I was cool!
I haven't had my living room fan on this morning.
I've had a look at 7-day forecast for the festival - Fri 23 to 34, Sat 22 to 27 with 40% chance of rain, Sunday forecast will be available this evening, but it appears to be a cooler weekend than some of the past scorchers. Rain is always around - sometimes the showground becomes a quagmire & there is a famous photo from a past festival of mud splattered (splattered?? - almost completely covered!) dancers in front of the stage in the big tent.

Hi Sandra, Oh my, 15 must have seemed very chilly, especially after being in the extreme heat. I'm glad that you won't be cooked at the festival. I hope that the rain holds off so everyone can enjoy using the showground. have a wonderful time there!
We've warmed up to -1C. They are expecting a few days will be above freezing before the cold comes back again and refreezes everything that will melt during the brief thaw. I'd much prefer that everything stay frozen until spring weather comes to stay, in April.
