Funny, rags!
Sandra, I agree, and I'd like to make a stack of them for guest seating. (And that's the first link here in a long time that takes me to the site!)

LOL! @ Sandra. Took me a minute to get the spider reference. Maeve, they would be great seating for visitors with good knees. They could be made from scraps or thrifted material. An online search will yield free tuffet patterns. I found some step by step photos on a site that sells patterns: sewmod.wordpress.com/tag/tuffet-pattern-by-myra-mitchell/ (You'll have to scroll down the page a ways.) I hope that the link will work for you, maeve. On edit: I had a closer look at the materials. The legs, foam and spray glue could run up the expense, as would the plywood rounds if a person doesn't have a scrap plywood pile to draw from.

Oh thanks very much Sandra and rags, but I won't be making any. Before seating comes water, sinks, shower, kitchen, insulation, walls, flooring...
(Forgot to say, rags, that no that link will not work for me...wonder what the difference is?)

I love those tuffets - so bright and cheerful! Just before we went away for Christmas the final stitches were taken to finish my latest quilt. It was started - that is to say, the first blocks were made - in a class in late 2007, and them some more blocks were made, then we moved house six hours away, but still every now and then I would get those blocks out and admire them, and put them away again......until last year when the annual challenge for my quilt group was issued, "Circles". Those blocks were taken out once more, enough made to finish the quilt, and it was finished.

It's amazing, Jennie! It's fascinating to look at. There are so many shapes one can see in it. My perception flips from triangles, to squares, to "windmills", to circles. Was the annual challenge a contest?

Thank you, Sandra and Rags!
The kangaroos must have been hiding that day. A bloke on the other side of the hill owns a small herd of cows (he buys and sells regularly, so we never know how many there will be) and they wander around. We don't mind, but sometimes it can smell quite ~rural~.
Not a contest, Rags - just for fun. It's not compulsory, I haven't worried about it for the past 2-3 years but thought it would be an reason to finish my quilt last year. I had always wanted to make a quilt using only black and white fabrics, there is no grey in this.

Perhaps a small group of kangaroos are hiding behind the quilt?
