I've had a busy day!

5 hours later my hat is still wet, but I just left it upside down in the top of my washing machine, I could have turned on a fan. This morning my friend's husband was heard using the hair dryer to dry his fisherman's cap! I had no trouble getting 3 screws out & a tiny bit of trouble with the 4th. I probably needed a bigger Philips screwdriver, but couldn't be bothered walking a few metres into the kitchen to get another one! Then I discovered the top was too small & managed to make another row - doesn't matter if the green piece is not full size as the fabric folds around the seat! I checked carefully. I have a small left-over scrap of green 4 x 6cm (inch & a bit x 2 & a bit) left. As the quilters among you can see I did not cut my 3" squares properly - but who will ever know when the seat is in place? The cushion fabric is an all-over pattern - Kimono Classics by Ramona Cummins for Camelot Cottons which I bought within the past 5 years but can't find on line.

Good that you were able to get the seat removed. Have you covered it yet? I'm not a quilter. It looks good to me.

the cover is almost ready to go onto the old seat, all I need is some quilt batting (the padding stuff in a quilt!) which I'm getting from a quilter friend on Wednesday.

all rows of quilting have been done - next job is to remove crafty stuff from the chair & fit new cover over cracked vinyl seat. The old cover was stapled on but I might need to use tacks as I don't have a staple gun

Strange, I remember commenting a couple of days ago, but it's not here.
It's very beautiful, Sandra. Tacks should work well. They did a good job in the years prior to staple guns.

Beautiful cover and clever way to hold it in place.
