Thank you, rags. We are celebrating with the wild birds today. No Purple or House finches, but flyovers and visits from the resident Northern cardinal pair, an immature Bald eagle, ravens, crows, American goldfinches, Black-capped chickadees, Pine siskins, Dark-eyed juncoes, Blue jays, and the lovely six or so Bluebirds.
Sending happy memories and hopes for a brighter future to you and to Megan and Roy!

Thank you, Maeve. I love your colourful post. Now that all the Christmas "must dos" are behind me, I'd love to go look for the bluebirds, but it's -36C (about -32F) here with no hope of it warming much anytime soon.

Oh, my! That's cold even for around here. Bluebirds with any survival skills will stay tucked away when it's that cold!

It's warmer now. We will be a little above freezing on Thursday. Last week the featured weather was freezing rain. There is so much ice, venturing out is not very attractive at the moment. On the positive side, we had a week or so of just above freezing weather and much of the snow melted or sublimated, so there is less snow load on the roofs, and more space to pile the next few feet of snow that falls. -- Only three more months of winter to go!
