The Koala is adorable! I don't remember ever seeing a picture of a small one like that. Sad that she wasn't able to reunite with her mother, but it appears she will be well cared for.
It is strange that those homes were permitted to be built so close to the water. It looked as if the riprap rocks protected much of the shoreline, but in that section even the big rocks were pulled away. Terrible!

I saw the tiny wet koala too! It's very weeny.
That section of road along the water is called "Millionaire's Row", but who in their right mind would want to live there? A very busy road - Pittwater Road, with traffic all day and night - rumbling past their door on one side, and the stormy Pacific Ocean on the other? There was apparently talk of a beach wall some time ago but locals didn't want access to 'their' beach limited, so it was never built.
I can remember a long time ago houses in that area being bought up by the local council because erosion meant they would probably fall into the sea, then they were demolished and the land was turned into parkland. Perhaps the whole coastline all the way around Australia should have the same treatment.
I'll get off me soapbox now......

What beautiful pictures and yes Sandra it probably is if they are as nosy a Orkney seals. We have two kinds here Grey and common they are very musical and love people to whistle sing or play music or them.

It's true- I did so on the beaches of Barra, outer Hebrides. I've sung and played penny whistle for seals, loons, and otters, and all seemed interested, moving closer and responding.

cows like the clarinet, too - at a festival in 2013 one of our younger members moved out of the camping paddock to practice her clarinet before brekkie & the cows joined her, 2nd pic shows her mum watching from the higher ground on the left. Attachments:

We saw seals on Vancouver Island ten years ago, they looked just like these ones!
Last November we saw sea otters while visiting friends on the island. We were sitting in their car gazing out across the Straits when we saw heads bobbing in the water, coming toward us. At first we thought they were people swimming, then seals......but as they drew closer and heaved themselves up onto rocks we realised they were sea otters! Several of them!
Sea otters are the cutest animals after wombats.

What lucky cattle! A lovely way to start the day. Her mum is watching in both images, Sandra. We saw seals on Vancouver Island ten years ago, they looked just like these ones! I've only seen a sea otter in person once. It was near Victoria on Vancouver Island, too. I couldn't get a very good photo in the short time it was in view on the rocks.

so that's what Tarka looks like! LOL! I think that Tarka was a river otter. They look like this: I found a site that compares and contrasts the two types of otter: aquariumofthebay.org/pages/detail/4313
