The gardeners in charge of flower gardens on public land around my town do an amazing job in our short growing seasons. I went out with my camera today to record some of the beauty before frost destroys it. This garden is on a small piece of land that is bordered by exits and entrances to a major street. When I walked closer to photograph individual flowers, I got a big surprise. Among the dahlias, sunflowers, geraniums and petunias, etc., were several kinds of food plants: beets, carrots, cabbages, beans, vines bearing pumpkins or squash, and strawberry plants. I'm hoping that the edible plants will be safe from frost and vandals until they are ready to be harvested as intended. (Click)-> More images of public gardens in my town. rags
