We had some friends in Sunday evening to listen to music and I was expected to provide a snack for the break halfway through. I had some apples which were begging to be used in baking and wanted to try making something I'd never made before so looked through a cookbook from a women's group and found this recipe: Apple Square 1 stick margarine (1/2 cup) 1 cup sugar 1 egg well beaten 2 large apples pared and chopped 1/2 cup chopped nuts 1 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Cream together margarine, sugar and egg; add apples and nuts. Sift together all dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture. Pour into a 9x9 inch pan; sprinkle with additional cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes. Yield: 24 servings. This is how it turned out: Photos of the rest of the food are here. (<-- click me.)

What a superb spread, wish I lived next door.
The apple slice looks good, I have quite a quantity of sliced apple in the freezer, it should be usable so I shall have a try. Cinnamon with apple is always nice.
I loved the melon basket, made to perfection.

The caption under the first picture says "A light snack..."! hahahahahahahahaha
That's what I'd call HIGH TEA.
