My first flowers, poking through dead leaves in the bed under the roof overhang, along the south facing side of the house. Crocus pushing through by diffuse, on Flickr This was taken last Thursday. Daytime temperatures have remained above freezing and the snow is melting rapidly, but we still have two to ten feet of snow over most of our yard.

The lilies are such a delicate, beautiful colour. How lovely to have such a large display of them. Your cat is beautiful too. I think I may have seem him as a quilt accessory a while ago?
Do you use the seeds from the sunflowers?
I usually have several sunflower plants that grow along the house from the winter bird seed. I usually hang the flower heads in trees to dry. The chickadees find them during the winter and eat the seeds.

I haven't been adding to this thread as I intended to do. Because we were away much of July and August my flowering plants were neglected even more than usual, but I've uploaded my garden flower photos to a Flickr set, <-- click the link if you would like to see some of this year's blooms. I'm calling them "backyard", but many are at the front of the house, not the back. These were taken on Friday:

Sandra foolishly asked about new chickens in our Bantam flock. Here's a link that will tell about birds and blooms this simmer...to be removed in just a few days. Taking down the link down tonight in case the Nor'easter takes our power away tonight and tomorrow. If any friends here want a look, just send me a PM.

a friend used to say the only foolish question is the one you don't ask.
I'm very pleased I asked. The chickens are gorgeous! as are the flowers etc.
thanks for posting the link.
