We are about six weeks early this year!
The fruit trees are about finished, the lilacs are blooming, AND my clematis is in bloom. I usually count on it for May 5, my daughter's birthday.
And wouldn't you know, I don't have my garden planted yet because we had to rework the soil, haul more soil in because the garden is low-lying and wet.

Yay!!!!!!!!!! I finally read the manual for my camera, took maybe 15 minutes, and I found out why my pictures were awful. I had somehow reset the exposure button. (I personally think it is a design flaw, surely couldn't be the user, moi. It's too easy to hit this particular button that does one thing in one mode and another thing in another mode. ;-) Anyway, here is the awful picture I took last week. Attachments:

I even read how to set the telephoto and closeup setting. Amazing what reading the manual can tell you. Actually, there are too many options for me, but I just might try some of them! Attachments:

Rags and Sandra, can I set the resolution to a larger size and get clearer pictures? I usually keep it on a middle setting so I can get a large number of acceptable pictures in the internal memory.

Mary, Beautiful flowers! Congratulations on discovering the source of your camera problems and making corrections. Well done! Rags and Sandra, can I set the resolution to a larger size and get clearer pictures? I usually keep it on a middle setting so I can get a large number of acceptable pictures in the internal memory. I use the largest resolution my camera can work with. Most cameras use a memory card to store the pictures. Does yours? If you are not happy with the number of images you can store on the card when you set the camera to the highest resolution, I'd suggest that you buy a larger card, or an extra card the same size and switch when the first one is full. The camera I usually use is 8.0 megapixels. A 2 GB memory card will allow me to shoot about 500 pictures. I download the pictures to my computer every day and clear the card, ready for the next use. rags

I went on a wildflower walk at Bernheim Forest and took several pictures. They are OK, but I need to do some refining. Here's the Jack-in-the-Pulpit Attachments:

And here's the Wood Sorrel hiding in the Poison Ivy. Mary, Your photos are lovely. The Wood Sorrel looks like a shamrock. I wonder if they are related? It looks so warm and inviting there. rags

Rags, our guide told us that those "shamrock leaves" are a key to the identification of Wood Sorrel.
I noticed that a lot of my perennial flowers are closely related to the wildflowers, kinda like wildflowers on steroids. I remember reading a biography of Luther Burbank when I was a child. He collected wild daisies until he progressively had bigger and bigger blooms, the Shasta Daisy. (or one like it)
Do you have poison ivy where you live? I don't think our Aussie and English friends have it. Several of us on the walk were never sensitive to it until we were older. It's the 3-leaf plant in the wood sorrel picture. "Leaves of three, let them be."

Now I'm inspired to take more pictures at the higher resolution. Here are some pictures in my yard. Shamrock (it's morning and the blooms are still closed) Attachments:
