Well, this is really the trip that didn't happen. I was supposed to go to Tulum, Mexico for my niece's wedding this weekend, but my trip got cancelled. I think it was just not meant to be because I had lots of stress trying to get a passport in time, camera fixed, clothes to wear to a beach wedding, etc. (I found out what a short-form birth certificate is!) Hubby had lots of problems with kidney stones, infection, etc. so it just wasn't a good idea to be traveling. Maybe we can use the airline tickets later. I'm trying to read James Michener's book on Mexico, but it's quite dark and depressing. I got past the human sacrifices and bullfights, but now can't seem to get past the Spanish Inquisition!

Hi Mary, I'm sorry, I don't know how I missed this earlier. What a shame that you weren't able to attend your niece's wedding. It's a big worry traveling when someone has medical issues. I hope that your husband has been able to rid himself of all the stones and infection.
James Michener's book on Mexico sounds like a difficult read. Were you able to continue reading it?

Yes, I finished the book. I learned a lot about bullfighting, but I really didn't enjoy all the other stuff. Michener has a way of surprising you with the gory parts. You think you see them coming, but you really don't.
Hubby is fine now. It took about 6 weeks, but everything is all clear now.
Back to traveling, I'm anxious to go somewhere. My trip to the quilt show in Paducah got cancelled because of flooding, the Mexico trip got cancelled, then a short trip to Western KY got cancelled when I got a cold. This just hasn't been my year.

Hi Mary, Sorry all your trips got cancelled , but the year is still young! Maybe yoy can get in another before New Years...I was hoping to go to the Yukon in Canada this summer but so far it is a no go, but maybe this winter. I went there last year for Christmas and it was minus 40 centigrade so was looking forward to warm and sunny. Anyway I have to finish the rug hooking for my son first. Joan
