I hope that Joan won't mind that I'm starting this new thread for her crochet project. I get confused trying to follow everyone's progress when it's all interspersed with one another. rags .... I am still working on the rug hooking but have set that aside to do a crochet baby blanket as I will be a great-grandma in October. Joan

(Originally posted yesterday in another thread) .... I am still working on the rug hooking but have set that aside to do a crochet baby blanket as I will be a great-grandma in October. Joan I visited Joan last evening and took a picture of the squares that she'd finished. What a lot of work! Joan is using white, yellow, pink, mauve, mint green, and blue. Each column of squares in the picture has the same colour in the second round next to a white centre and a different colour in the third round. Joan is working on the squares now that have a blue second round. rags

Joan has finished making 120 squares and realizes that 60 will make a crib size blanket. She tried various arrangements and will likely use this one, but will crochet round of double crochet in white around each square to separate them a little more. This will also add 3 inches in width and 5 inches in length. (She's done the extra round on the second and the fifth square from the right in the bottom row.) Joan spent a lot of time rearranging the squares. Decisions, decisions by diffuse, on Flickr

Joan called to tell me that she was almost finished adding an extra round of double crochet in white to each of the 60 squares.
We tried a different layout for the squares today, trying to keep from having two squares side by side that have the same colour. We almost managed it. Joan decided that the blanket was going to be too long for the width so she removed one row of 6 squares and may use those for a cushion/pillow cover. Here's Joan, finishing the last square. rags

There's a possibility that the baby will be born sooner than planned so Joan has been working very hard on the blanket lately. She sewed the sixty squares together and has started crocheting around the outside of the blanket, making one round of each colour. Now it's a blanket. by diffuse, on Flickr Joan finished the round of green and is almost finished the yellow round. I wonder which colour she'll use next? Joan completed the blanket and pillow as well as a little pink hat. Joan started a circular knit blanket: Joan stripped and repainted this wardrobe for her great grandchild to use whenever she arrives. I hope that Joan will type something about the history of it.
