Sandra this is gorgeous! I hope that it will find a wall or other suitable location to hang.

it's still folded up! I have lots of walls - there are 4 in each room!I could hang it in front of one of my bookcases, or one of my display cabinets, or my doll's house, or one of my wardrobes or my 1920's dresser ...
I'm currently (not) working on my waistcoat - it's almost quilted. If I can get it finished before Wednesday it could be part of a display the group is putting on in our local library.
sandra - logging off & back to the jigsaw! then the waistcoat!

the waistcoat is still not quite finished - other stuff intervened. And alas, it was not wanted for the display, tho the wall-less wallhanging is in the cabinet, along with my first Japanese doll (see the earlier On the go thread), the geisha, not the bride. My Japanese book is also there, pink Rosalie was made for one of my friends. (original) Rosalie in the pink dress was made in 1996 & was one of the first bears I made - using a kit that did not have the best instructions (not an easy task for a beginner). I finished the green silk pinafore a few minutes ago after pulling various bits undone several times. The instructions have been modified so that if I ever make Rosalie again it will be much easier to do. The pink dress was also modified but the instructions weren't!

Sandra, Your bears are adorable! They have so much personality and are dressed elegantly. I'm glad that your wall hanging is hanging.

Dawn wanted a girlie bear - & Rosalie is probably the cutest bear I made - it's the 2 colour glass eyes that make her so appealing. some of my other bears, including two I created while playing around years ago with a drawing program we had at work! my.opera.com/sandra%20in%20sydney/albums/show.dml?id=316859

waistcoat finally finished last night - then I had fun trying to take it's photo while wearing it! My long arms weren't quite long enough! So, here it is on it's hanger. Front.

it's completely hand stitched - the sleeves & neck are bound with old 1" cotton bias binding. Modern polycotton bias binding melted/shrunk when I tried to iron in a fold so the fronts & hem are bound with straight strips of the drill used to line it. I did't; put batting/pellon between the layers. I have a large shoebox full of bias binding. Most is vintage cotton, (I've only ever found polycotton useful for binding the edges of doll's clothes & underwear), & need to go hunting for more black cotton as I don't have very much 1/2" & now I have even less 1". Strangely enough I fell like a balloon with a slow leak after finishing my big projects. Next project it to cut the eighty 1" (plus seams) squares from my sample book of 26 Thai silks to make my next dolls quilt. I'll cut 3 squares from each fabric, then the fun will be to arrange them. The extra squares can be on the back! One of my friends just finished a quilt for a purple loving teenager. The top is covered with big stars & the leftover stars went on the verigated purple back & it looked great. She loves purple so had fun making the quilt for her friend's new foster daughter. sandra

Sandra, What an elegant waistcoat! You did such a beautiful job of it. Where will you wear it first?

What a well laid out display. So much work and so much talent displayed in one showcase. The quilt based on floor tile is a wonderful idea.
