looks like I haven't posted since Oct 2017 ... hmmmm a few months back I bought a Macbook Air - & of course it needed a carrybag! The $5 purple bag is adequate, but a friend suggested I make one, but it really needed 3 bags Attachments:

now for a few bits of fancywork For decades The Stitchery sold traced linen in a tiny little arcade in the CBD, long covered by one of Sydney's towers, but the company kept going tho today they are a shadow of their past. I've not bought any of their current designs, I prefer to find old pieces in Op shops (charity/goodwill) Achieve Fabric, Needlecraft & More Shop is where I go! In my downsizing I've taken many trolley loads of unwanted craft stuff (why did I need a trunk full of materials for a hobby I hadn't done since 1988?), & dress fabrics etc. I come back with a few items in a small envelope, occasionally a bit more when I pick up a few stray balls of wool.

Sandra, you're very clever to make the custom bags for your Macbook and it's accessories.
Maeve, I'd love to try the leaf printing described in the newsletter. It looks very colourful and I love colours.

I would too, rags. Around here Dick Blick (online) and Amazon both have reasonable prices for both the pencils and the blocks... depending on whether you want just a few or a complete set. I can see nimble Sandra and creative Megan making good use, too!

Maeve, You're right that Sandra and Megan will be able to make good use of those items. I'm finding that I have far more projects than I'd love to try, than I have the time to do. I'm increasingly surrounded by piles of supplies for intended new interests that I never get to. I'll never be bored and I'll never complete so many things. Becoming realistic with my goals and decluttering is in my near future.

Rags, I also have been clearing out such "never going to make time for that" projects. When I do manage a place for my chosen works to emerge I want it clear of Stuff and ready for creative juices to flow. One local library has a "Stash Buster" sale each spring, accepting donations of all kinds of textile materials and unfinished projects.
These pencils & blocks work on paper and fabric, and can be used down to the last particle, so I may just fling the idea at the next family member demanding to know what I want for a gift. I am not good at gift lists, etc. and would rather not be given anything when the giver can't be bothered to think about and choose something they know I'll be able to use. Ungrateful wretch that I am, I don't want a space filler/guilt dissipater gift in my home.

pics I had planned to post cushion (Stitchery-nursery cushion no. 3351) was given to a beautiful baby - mother of said baby has been reminded by her mother that I'd like a pic of the completed cushion ... iris mat has a very simple crocheted edge - loop with 4 chain in each hole Attachments:

not my work, but a piece of great beauty & technical skill - the tiny little backstitches cover one thread on a very fine linen! I've never seen anything like it. I make what I call tiny little backstitches (giant compared to these one) & have at times unpicked them, not an easy job, especially when I had tiny little black backstitches on a Japanese fabric with a black background. I do like the elephant's kindly expression in particular, and the iris mat is beautifully done. The last piece is so delicate! Thanks for showing us, Sandra.
