Megan, your descriptions are all beautiful and poetic. You truly do have a gift.
Sandra, what a strange coincidence viewing those sets of photos then reading Megan's descriptions.

In 2008 I bought |David a camera for our silver wedding. I later loaned it to a family member and it came back minus the instructions so was put aside and basically forgotten about. Recently a page kept coming up called Central Scotland captures, I joined hoping to see lots of lovely pictures of places I knew. These guys are serious photographers and a lot of their work is stunningly beautiful. One thing I quickly discovered was that Mark who created the site unless someone asks for advice you do not give what he calls creative criticism. Each week they have a weekend theme and a few weeks ago I got an idea for a picture that would fit the theme which was 'wood and stone'. I tentatively got out the camera and set of to capture the image, when I posted it I was surprised and delighted by the number of people who liked the picture and offered encouragement to do more. Here are a couple of my efforts

Unfortunately Sandra it is a closed fb site a friend got me to go on there but I use my mums name cause I was having some bother with the in laws at the time. I did catch them beautifully a couple of weeks ago |Mark said the theme was Simplicity lots of bonny pictures of an individual flower and the like except for mine.

I especially like the compositions and the light contained therein. Beautiful! (I've sewn many garments using Simplicity patterns!)

One of my treasures is a Simplicity pattern book from March 1953. It is the only thing I have from my maternal grandfather. The queen came to Australia when I was a toddler? & he collected pictures from the Australian Woman's Weekly & other publications & pasted them into a Simplicity pattern book for me. I was 7 when he died and I have no memories of him. The booklet was issued by the bank of New South Wales, Australia's first & oldest bank (now Westpac) 30 years later I acquired a 1950s molded-hair doll & dressed her using one of the illustrations - pics in Sandra's stuff, page 7 Attachments:

Megan, Your photos are lovely. The country scene with the buildings looks so perfect it's hard to believe that it's real. You were very clever, photographing the pattern package for "Simplicity".
Sandra, What a thoughtful thing for your grandfather to make such a treasure for you. It's sad that you don't remember him.

Sandra that was a lovely thing for your Grandfather to do.
I was out yesterday looking for anything beginning with F for this weekends theme. In need of a break I headed down a narrow road I vaguely thought once led to the Broch of Gurness, the new road is about a mile down the main road. the road was single track like a lot of roads on the island winding its way round fields and even in this case a house. It meandered its slow way to the shore stopping briefly to make way for the ancient graveyard before ending at a small parking area.
I took the narrow path marked with the symbol of the St Magnus way and found myself at an old slipway. The sand had built up against it making the way onto the beach easy. The firm sand made this small section of beach reasonably easy for me to walk on and I even managed to snap a fishing boat on its way out.
As I was heading back a family came onto the beach mum gathered beach stones for the youngsters to drop of the waterside of the slipway with dad holding tight to the youngest as he giggled and laughed at the splash and sploosh of the dropped stones. I headed back up the path and as I passed the rusted old shed I heard squeals of joy and got clear in time to se dad swing the older boy out over the shallow water and back to the slip. I caught it on camera but it was one of those times the camera did lie for the angel I had on it made the picture look rather sinister. When he lifted the youngest one I was in a far better position and caught a lovely picture of father and sons enjoying time together I do wish I knew who they were I would send it to them as a memento of a lovely family day.

lovely pics, megan
Years ago a friend asked me to take pics of her session at a festival. She & her husband had a tent full of little kids rattling & shaking instruments & jiggling & dancing away. The best pics of the whole workshop was the baby sitting on mother's lap & watching me. I'm sure his family would have loved the pic.

Beautiful pictures, Megan. Thank you for including the visuals with your colourful word pictures. The boys and their dad seem to be having great fun.
