Most of our services, including electrical wiring, are underground, but there are several things that must be accessible, electrical junction boxes, TV cable boxes and fire protection hydrants. Because they are located on our lawns, very near the road, there is a danger that they will become buried in the snowbanks created by snow "removal" crews or struck by a front end loader when it is ramming snow from the road on to a lawn. To lessen the chances of an accident, tall sticks are taped to each of these. The sticks are colour coded to make it easy to locate each item. Orange is for fire hyrants by diffuse, on Flickr

Sandra, The snow is very beautiful. I love looking at it!
As we're both retired, there is usually no pressure to get the driveway dug out. The only time it's a problem is when one of us has an appointment and there is so much new snow that we need to spend an hour or so clearing it before we can leave.

Last Wednesday, March 6th. Two weeks to go until the first day of Spring. We won't run out of snow anytime soon. Walls of snow and ice by diffuse, on Flickr

Hardy Northern Canadian teens. Canadian youth are hardy by diffuse, on Flickr I was taking photos of the ice along the roof a few minutes ago, to assess if it's affecting the shingles, when I saw this trio passing by. It's 3C (about 37F) with a strong wind blowing.

so it will all be gone by midnight? Wouldn't that be nice? I'm expecting that a month from now much of it will be gone. I've started a new thread for Spring.
