I can remember wool trousers I made when I started work! I even lined them, tho eventually the wool rubbed into holes inside the legs as it wasn't a tight weave.
I can't remember any other wool garments apart from coats & knitted garments.

Sandra, Thank you. I've moved it into the winter position. The paint wasn't totally dry. I'll wait a few more days then put some water on top of it so the birds can drink and bathe in safety. I need to look through my scrap wood and craft some sort of bird feeder that can be on top of there, too. The trellis turned out not to be as cat proof as I'd hoped. Kitty has spotted movement Grey lightning, about to strike. Patiently waiting for the return of the rodent I had to step in at this point because the squirrel looked to be planning to drive the cat away from his territory and I feared for his safety. I was lazy about adding water and a feeder. I hung a plant basket in a tree beside the trellis for a squirrel feeder and used an overturned rubbish bin lid to provide water for the birds. As you saw, the neighbours' cat is able to get up there, but it's difficult and she's quite visible so I think the birds (and squirrel) are safer there than nearer the ground. Grey lightning indeed!
I love to watch cats stalk their prey. Only the tip of their tail wiggles until they pounce.
